| The club was originally formed in 1922 by employees
of Peel Connor who had moved to Coventry from the north. The "Connor"
played in the Coventry District League until 1926 when they changed
their name to Magnet F.C. as the company amalgamated with Magnito
Ltd. The name was changed again in 1934 becoming GEC (Cov) F.C.
It kept this name until the 1970’s when it became GPT (Cov) F.C.
This stayed the same until the 1990’s when it became Marconi F.C.
The final name change happened in the summer of 2005 when Marconi
sold off all it Sports facilities to British Land and the allowed
the setting up of the Copsewood Sports and Social Club. The football
club is part of this organisation and the name Copsewood it taken
from the area of Coventry the club is situated. In its early years
the club played in the local District and Works Leagues and after
the war was one of the main clubs in the city. In the 1970’s the
club won its league’s internal cup four times, the Coventry Evening
Telegraph Cup three years in a row, the only club ever to do so,
and the Birmingham Junior Cup twice. |

| Then in 1993 the club decided to apply to join
the Midland Combination. In the first three seasons the club finished
5th but gained promotion to Division 1 due to its excellent facilities.
Then in the 1996-97 season under the management of Ashley Alexander
and Gez O’Neill the club did the League and Cup double in Division
1. |
| |
| In its first season in the Premier Division the
club finished 6th and in 1998-99 under the management of Carl Davies
and John McGinty it finished 8th. It had to start that season playing
its home games at V. S. Rugby because it did not have its own floodlights.
However, during the season the club purchased some from Mangotsfield
Town F.C. who now play in the Beazer Homes league and erected them
using the expertise of the club members. We first played under them
in March 1999 and so completed the work in 6 months. The ground,
therefore, now meets all the requirements of the Premier League.

| In the 1999-2000 season the club finished 4th in
the League and were runners-up in the Challenge Cup. This is something
the club have managed to achieve three times in six seasons. Then
in 2000-2001 season they won the Coventry Charity Cup, and were
runners-up in the Telegraph Cup as well as entering the F.A. Vase
for the first time. In 2001-2002 season the club appointed Paul
Mills as manager and for the next four season the club won the Coventry
Charity Cup twice, were beaten finalists in the Telegraph Cup twice,
runners-up in the league and also finished third in the league.
They also won the Tony Allden cup. |

| Paul left the club at the end of 2004-2005 season
when a mass exodus of players also took place. The club appointed
Scott Furlong as manager and he, along with John Moore, rebuilt
the side relying on a lot of young players. The side did will to
reach the semi-final of the BCFA Mid-Week Cup and the final of the
Telegraph Cup as well as securing a mid-table place. Scott is now
in his second season in charge and hopes to make more progress this
season. |
